Bestandsgeschichte: Nachdem das Gut Knauthain zum 1. Juli 1949 in Volkseigentum überführt wurde, kam es genau ein Jahr später zur Zusammenlegung der Güter Knauthain und Lauer.
Nach wechselnder Unterstellung und unterschiedlichen Kooperationspartnern des Gutes wurde es nach 1990 in die Verwaltung der Stadt Leipzig übernommen. Der landwirtschaftliche Betrieb wurde eingestellt und das Grundstück später durch die Stadt Leipzig veräußert.
Die Übernahme des Bestandes VEG Knauthain durch das Stadtarchiv Leipzig erfolgte im Jahr 1994. Der Teilbestan der Akten wurde 2010 im Stadtarchiv im Rahmen einer archivischen Ausbildung bearbeitet.

The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
This number is important for making an inquiry to the relevant archive.

In the sources, the persecuted person is sometimes referred to as ‘Geschädigter’ (aggrieved party) and the applicant as ‘Anspruchsberechtigter’(claimant).
