Bestandsbeschreibung: Gerhard (Karl Erich) Gentzen wurde am 24.11.1909 in Greifswald geboren und satrk am 4. August 1945 in Prag. Er hat bei Hermann Weyl mit einer Arbeit über das logische Schließen promoviert und war ab 1934 Assistent von David Hilbert. 1942 habilitierte er sich in Göttingen ("Beweisbarkeit und Unbeweisbarkeit von Anfangsfällen der transfiniten Induktion in der reinen Zahlentheorie") und war ab 1943 Dozent an der Deutschen Universität in Prag.
Gentzen hat Wesentliches beigetragen zur Begründung der modernen mathematischen Beweistheorie. Dazu entwickelte er das allein auf Schlussregeln basierende natürliche Schließen und das Sequenzschließen. Von Gentzen stammt ebenfalls der Beweis für die Widerspruchsfreiheit der formalisierten Arithmetik natürlicher Zahlen. Die nachhaltige Bedeutung der von ihm entwickelten Methoden, Regeln und Strukturen zeigt sich heute vor allem in wichtigen Teilgebieten der Informatik.
Bei der Sammlung handelt es sich um einen Kleinbestand, der sich aus etwas Material der Gentzen-Nichte und einer von Christian Thiel bearbeiteten Kopie eines Gentzen-Manuskriptes zusammensetzt.

The Bundeszentralkartei (BZK) is the central register of the federal government and federal states for completed compensation proceedings. When a claim is entered into the BZK, a number is assigned for unique identification. This BZK number refers to a compensation claim, not to a person. If a person has made several claims (e.g. for themselves and for relatives), each claim generally has its own BZK number. Often, the file number of the respective compensation authority is used as the BZK number.
