The Archivportal-D features a web application with which you can keyword your finding aids, initially for the online collection Weimar Republic. With this keyword tool, developed by FIZ Karlsruhe, the Federal Archives and the State Archives of Baden-Württemberg, you can independently prepare your archive material for the various online collections.

Your keyworded finding aids can then be found via the categories and the keyword selection in the online collection as well as in the Archivportal-D.
Manual keywording is supported in our tool by automatically generated keyword suggestions. Here, the archival titles and context information are compared with a keyword database. This database contains the keywords as well as synonyms of the assigned norm data. The comparison reveals (semantic) similarities and automatically assigns suitable keywords on this basis.
In addition to the manually added keywords (Landtag, Generalstreik and Republik Baden), the algorithm has also suggested the keyword Polizei. The editor can now decide whether to accept (checkmark) or reject (x) this.
Currently, this procedure is based on the principle of unsupervised learning, so that the suggestions currently only take into account the basic semantic similarities between the keyword and the textual description. In the future, the quality of the automated keyword suggestions will be improved by expanding the data basis of keywords manually added to objects. Thus, the algorithm actively learns archive-specific semantic similarities and can improve its suggestions.
